A few years back, I was pissed when I see Mummy bloggers copying phrases, header titles, expressions and writing style right off my blog.
In the spirit of learning English, I let it go since most of these Mummys are Chinese-educated…
Now, I find that this Buy Chanel blog palming off 2 of my posts ad verbatim!
And earning ads from MY content!!!
There is NO contact, NO comments allowed - how the heck do I stop this THIEF?
Why nobody reads my Book Reviews blog
My friends and regular readers must know by now that I’m CRAZY over books. Crazy enough to start a blog reviewing all the interesting books I’ve ever read - for children, for teenagers, for women, for parents, for cooks etc.
I realize that the newspapers report that Malaysians only read an average of 1.8 books per year. And I hope to change that by recommending books that will suit a person’s age, interests and needs.
Other than a few interested friends, hardly anyone comes over to that blog.
I found this “Blog Readability Test” and checked out my book blog at http://RightReads.com. Oops…the level of education needed to read the blog posts is the GENIUS level!

Is that the reason why nobody comes to that blog? Please let me know what you’d like to know in a book review - I really want to encourage more people to read, read, read either for themselves or for their kids
Thankfully, this blog’s reading level is not at GENIUS level. If not, I won’t be able to connect with other Mums out there!

Have you checked out the readability of your blog? The lower the level of education, the easier it is for people to understand what you write…
Does that mean I should simplify the English in the book blog?
I love Picasa
For ages, I’ve been ogling at the collages created on other Mums’ blogs and wondered HOW they created them. My Googling showed PhotoMix which is very user-friendly but I could only save the collage in their software-specific format. Want to save it in JPG, TIF or BMP formats? Then, SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!
I immediately felt as dejected as a a deflating baloon *phhh…phhhh….ffft….*
Then, I recalled that I had installed some free photo software ages ago with Blogger and quickly did a search for Picasa by Google. After a quick 1-2-3, I got it up and voila! it searches for all the photos that are on my comupter.
After that, I immediately set out to create my first collage above! I’m smiling from ear to ear now, which is a rather stupid metaphor since it’s impossible for anyone to accomplish this.
According to the Features section on its site, you can organize your photos in all your folders, create captions and also edit your photos.
Besides this, Picasa also enables you to create posters - even to the point of allowing you to print the individual sections that you can assemble into a giant poster! Cool, huh?
And, whaddaya know? This helpful gadget was sitting as a button on my “Tools for You” section of this blog all the time!
Anyway, the collage above shows me pathetic attempts to cook:
1. Steamed fish & stir-fried brocolli
- I ate this almost twice a week during my first trimester of carrying Lucas. Now, I run at the sight of steamed bawal putih (Malay=pomfret) but I still like brocolli. It’s said that babies will like what their Mums ate during the last weeks of pregnancy - I hope that Lucas will like brocolli too since most kids hate vegetables.
2. Spaghetti bolognaise & fresh garden salad
- I’m quite proud of my spaghetti because this is one dish that hubby perks up at whenever I cook it. Initially, I cheated using hamburger meat but later, a friend told me that if I simmered the sauce a bit longer, the taste would seep into ground meat so I’ve been using fresh ground meat from then on. Friends who have tasted it agree that it’s *quite tasty* so I guess there’s hope for me in the culinary department he he
3. My experimental porridge for Lucas
- I wanted to be creative and decided to throw in whatever I had in the fridge in our apartment. This time, I found pink beans, tomato, celery and sweet potato which I dumped into the slow cooker. The resulting porridge smelled good and didn’t taste too bad either. Lucas didn’t mind it at all =)
Later, I heard loud, ripping farts in the hall and immediately turned to hubby but he said that it’s coming from the little fella’s diaper! Ok, I’ll hold the beans and cooking for now and go back to fiddling with my photos…

P/S: Is something the matter with Blogger? I seem to have lost my paragraphs! The post looks fine but after publishing, they merged into one fat, pudgy block of text. Help! I don’t want to typing paragraph tags for each post.
