Last week, I did a super-duper round of grocery shopping at one of the hypermarkets.
Since the kids behaved relatively well i.e. not too much running around and I think I only had to yell: “Stay here! Stop running! Don’t touch!” a maximum of 10 times, I decided to take them to the children’s indoor playground.
Personally, I don’t like indoor playgrounds because my toddler is a thumb-sucker.
If I don’t wash her hands immediately after play, she would pop her thumb into her mouth – IMAGINE ALL THE GERMS!!!
Some of the indoor playgrounds are well maintained i.e. a variety of play structures, age appropriate kiddy rides and most importantly, a clean floor.
However, I avoid the indoor playground at T- at all costs.
Why?
I find the playground base ABSOLUTELY FILTHY!
The base that was initially a reddish brown is now a dark, disgusting brown. It also had broken patches and worst of all, it STINKS
I have a very sensitive nose and I am most put off by the smell of stinky feet. Ugh.
Considering the number of shoppers going to T- , I think that they owe it to their customers to upgrade the flooring of the indoor playground.
Have they considered synthetic turf like the ones in baseball fields?
Synthetic turf is durable and safe for small areas such as children’s playground. Furthermore, there are smooth, non-abrasive types that would not hurt children’s knees when they tumble and fall.
Children with allergies will have no pollen to worry about.
Best of all, good quality artificial turf actually feels like natural grass!
