While I was spring cleaning my vanity table and various cosmetic pouches (I think I have 5 but I still look out for more…), I made an inventory list of the creams, lotions, toners and make-up that I have.
Looking at the bottles I have amassed, I even shocked myself that I have SO MUCH stock on skincare!
Among the bottles that made me *incredibly guilty* are these 4 bottles (one bottle missing from the photo):
- Suisse Reborn Moisture Lock Complex
- Suisse Reborn Hydrating Day Cream
- Suisse Reborn Hydro Rejuvenating Night Cream and
- Suisse Reborn XXX Eye Cream
I’d picked up this range of skincare when we visited Hong Kong during the summer of 2008. The main purpose of the trip was to buy lotions and bath emollients that would help our eczema-prone kid who had a major flare-up when we moved to the dried climate in China.
I could only find the brands I was looking i.e. Oilatum and Cetaphil at this pharmacy known as “Bonjour”.
Since my Artistry moisturizer didn’t seem effective against the really, really dry weather there, Hubby suggested that I grab some of my stuff too.
I experienced the driest skin I’ve ever had in my life (no joking) because I noticed a “leathery” appearance on my calves and the lines on my plump palms were visibly finer too. I actually felt panicky – was I AGING???
Browsing around the section selling Lancome and Estee Lauder, a senior sales executive recommended me this range of “Made in Switzerland” skincare products.
She told me that I needed a heavier weight day moisturizer for my skin and an oilier one for the night, especially if we were also sleeping in air-conditioned rooms during the hot summer.
Since I was picking up two items, she suggested that I also get the eye cream (for my dark circles) and the moisture lock complex:
“A special formulation with rich complexes of Vitamin A&E, Retinol A, Vitamin E&DNA Botanical Origin. It helps improve skin’s elasticity, reduce pigmentation and dark spots by preventing and filtering the damage caused by UVA/UVB.
Sodium Hyaluronate, the powerful hydrating element, works efficiently by locking the moisture into the skin, leaving the skin immediately moisturized, nourushed and brightened with radiance.
The Pure Rose Extract complex prevents skin from becoming coarse, pale and dull by working as a defense against free radicals. Rose Extract also has other unique functions as oxygenating, purifying and rejuvenating the skin, improving skin’s natural defense mechanism, smoothing and repairing skin, tightening pores abd last but not least, strengthening the skin structure and thus minimizing the occurence of sensitive skin. A youngful skin with suppleness and radiance will reappear in just a second.”
Sounds good, doesn’t it? (The English isn’t as perfect but hey, the Swiss don’t speak English in Switzerland, right?) Never mind the peeling print on the bottle, the list of ingredients is a short and sweet one:
The Moisture Lock Complex works well as a light moisturizer back home now. I like its oil-free texture and although it has pure rose extract, it doesn’t emit the overpowering scent of rose, which I detest.
Anyway, as it costs HK$545 (60 ml), you bet I’m going to use every single drop of this!
Is it the best wrinkle cream?
I can’t tell since:
a) I don’t have wrinkles (yet!) except for fine lines across my forehead that have always been there and
b) life is so hectic and erratic as a Mother of two, I can’t really maintain a regular skincare regime!!!
Does it reduce pigmentation and dark spots?
Maybe it does because I used to have this huge chicken pox scar but only a smattering of tiny dark spots are in its place now. I need to confirm these with some photos if I can get someone to help me with these close-up shots.
Does anyone else have a positive experience with Suisse Reborn or even heard of it? Since I can’t find it on sale anywhere other than in Bonjour (HK), I wonder if I have just experienced a major rip-off…
*Still feeling guilty when I think of the cans of milk formula, food, cloth diapers and toys I can buy for my kids with that amount of money.
I’d bought the Suisse Reborn skincare 8 months before I became pregnant. I swear I will NOT splurge on such expensive skincare again!

wen – Samples are OK and most welcomed but the impulse buys are what’s killing me…
I live in Toronto. Suisse Reborn Hydro Booster is an absolute must for me in the dry winter here. I have used Suisse Reborn moisture lock complex as well, I find the function for both of them to be similar. I have used other skin care lines, and everything leaves me with dry peeling patches on my face, all except Suisse Reborn.

Feel the same! It is like a trap. I just planned to have fun in HK not go shopping a week ago, but I spent HK$2900 in Bonjour and bought 6 pieces of Suisse Reborn products. Now, I am trying to search online to find wether I was fooled, then, I think so……

Doris qin – Ooh…you’ve got me curious as to what you bought! It is weird and I think that it’s actually a HK/China brand because I’ve yet to hear of anyone from Switzerland confirming this brand.
Anyways, I finished using the Moisture Lock Complex with no much to report. The eye cream isn’t anything to shout about either.
Love the Suisse Reborn Hydro Rejuvenating Night Cream though especially during the drier winter months.

I am the same here, just came back from HK without intention of spending HK X,000. but i have done it… oh well.

I got this facial masks. first impression, I didn’t like it so much as it was oily. However, it was very moist for the whole day.
Jay – Ahh…you’re victim no. 5 now hahaha. I’m still not convinced that it’s a Swiss product because the packaging and language is sub-standard.
I finally finished the Moisture Lock Complex and don’t really miss it. I do love the Hydro Rejuvenating Night Cream, which is perfect for winter.
The eye cream? Feel like Clinique’s All About Eyes works much better for me. All the best with the search for truth and the masks! I hope that you’ll come back to share anything new you find, ok? Cheers!
