When this mummy visited Australia last year, I was excited about getting the Mandy Mac Purple Nights One Size as I was searching for an all-cloth, PURPLE, night-time cloth diaper that would fit my chunky monkey (weighing around 16 kg).
About Mandy Mac’s Purple Nights One Size
“…an extra large and extra absorbent dedicated night nappy
…Made from 60% bamboo 40% cotton
…The Mandy Mac Purple Nights has enjoyed immense success since it was launched onto the market. It is our most popular product.”
Furthermore, the Mandy Mac Purple Nights is a double layer of high loop bamboo/cotton. An attached four-layer bamboo/cotton booster flips out for quick drying. Not just a booster, it’s also a trifold!
The Purple Nights One Size nappy also comes with 2 free four-layer bamboo boosters. When both boosters are used the Purple Nights Onesize consists of 22 layers of bamboo.

Priced at AUD32.90 (RM96.64/US$29.72), the Purple Nights is value for money as you get an all-natural cloth diaper + 2 four-layer bamboo boosters!
Here is my photo of the cloth nappy and boosters (which I love!!!):
How do I put on the Purple Nights One Size?
Reading the above and looking at the photo of the little girl below, I just realise that I’d put on the MandyMac the WRONG way on. I’m such a dodo…
The purple liner is supposed to be folded inside! It all makes sense now because I kept wondering WHY the MandyMac logo is in the inside
“The in-built stay-dry liner is made from polyester and milled to be like athletes’ sportswear. It keeps baby cool but dry.
The Purple Nights has a bright purple coloured liner, making it easy to distinguish a night nappy from the daytime nappies in your nappy stacker.”
Here is the correct way to put on the MandyMac:
Here is my chunky monkey in Mandy Mac’s Purple Nights One size (wrong side on), fastened with Snappi. You can see that this cloth diaper fits big babies and toddlers well:
Is the Mandy Mac Purple Nights a good night diaper?
Good news:
- It’s an excellent night-time cloth diaper because he could sleep the whole night through with only Bumgenius 3.0 as a diaper cover;
- It wasn’t that bulky probably because my boy is a big boy. Purple Nights One Size can be used as a daytime diaper if I remove the 2 bamboo boosters;
- The cloth diaper didn’t take that long to dry either since it’s all cloth and I can actually unfold the tri-fold booster and dry the extra 2 bamboo boosters separately. I like this ingenius idea
Bad news:
- You MUST use a Snappi fastener – I’ve not a Snappi user thus my boy wasn’t used to it. He kept tugging and tugging at the Snappi that he actually ‘snapped’ it into two!
FOR BIG BABIES ONLY
Since the baby girl is really slim and long-bodied, the Mandy Mac doesn’t work well on her – she’s lost in all that cloth, sigh, sigh, sigh.
Mandy Mac mentions this on their website:
“The Mandy Mac Purple Nights will usually fit a four year old child of average height, but not a particularly tall child. More specifically, a long bodied child. It will fit a shorter child of any “roundness” as it has super long wings that can accommodate almost any degree of roundness.”

UPDATE: I couldn’t resist the super soft Purple Nights and tried it on the sleepy guy last night without the Snappi AND with the purple side facing inside.
Though the Bumgenius 3.0 is *too tight* for him, the Mandy Mac stayed on him the whole night. Woohoo! I didn’t have wet sheets to change this morning and only need to breastfeed the girl at 3.00 am. A blissful night
However, he was upset at seeing the GREEN diaper cover – I had to quickly show him the PURPLE inner liner or I’m dead. Phew!
If I don’t hear from anyone by the end of the week, I’m keeping both Mandy Macs and searching for a big diaper cover. Got to see if he can still fit into his favourite BLUE Bumwear (dinosaur print).

Hi kittycat, I don’t like to use snappis too, especially when they make holes in the diapers, causing more wear & tear. Good news: since you use a diaper cover, if you make it snug enough, you don’t need to use a snappi.
That’s how my boy wears his GAD semi-fitted in the day: wrap the fitted, then wrap the cover over and fasten the cover snugly. He is very active and the diaper stays on. Try it during the day to see if it works.
This sounds like a really good diaper, good review too. And yes, for that price I think it is quite affordable
good ler… i wan to try on Mann. Think she is big enough to fit on it kok.
Get a waterproof mattress liner so that if he wets the bed, u don’t have to change the entire sheet. Just pull away the liner and let him continue to sleep on DRY CLEAN sheets.
I am doing that for my #2 now. He’s off diapers during nights but “accidents” still happen about once a week. As he shares the bed with his older brother, I don’t need to wake the brother up when the lil one wets the bed. I loved this. Regretted not having this when i was training the older one last time.
CDM – Yup, I’m loving it now because it’s one GREAT night-time nappy for my super heavywetter. And it’s purple! I’m using both now because I didn’t want to deal with MamyPoko and wet bedsheets again.
He’s definitely outgrown Bumgenius 3.0 and Bumwear. I’ve just ordered a Happy Heiny’s for him in Violet. Hehehe, he can use it and the girl can use it later too
Allisia – Trylah and let us see, ok?
Shooi – I did but he REFUSED to sleep on it! What’s worse, he’ll snuggle close to me so I end up having to change TWO sets of sheets each time. A lovely lady is stitching me a broad matress liner now. Can’t wait to see what it’s like and hope that the naughty boy will be OK with it.
I am at lost here. I find no nappy in the world can keep my No.3 completely dry. I actually change him just before I knock off (abt 11pm – he actually is still sleeping when I change him, quite funny), and STILL I will find him all wet!
I really gave up la..and have resigned myself to washing more sheets. Sigh…
YEah, a big one will work. MIne is really big and both Dylan & I sleeps on it. So he doesn’t mind. Besides, he can roll anywhere he wants and still won’t wet the sheet.
Aiyoh… why Mr Charming is so particular about the color??? Cannot bribe him at all???
Gosh.. it’s huge…!!!!!
mott – If you’re gonna wash bedsheets, why not wash cloth diapers instead? They really work better than dispos.
Shooi – Ooh, the fella finally allowed me to spread the rubber sheet on both our side
Angeleyes – Nope, not bribe-able. He’ll even refuse presents given to him if he DOES NOT like them. He’s definitely not Mr. Charming in our home! He’s Mr. Irritating, Mr. Stubborn, Mr. Fussy…
zmm – Yes, they are but they work!
