A Pregnant Pause

BUMPY TUMMY * BOUNCY BABY * YUMMY MUMMY ^^

I need a break!

I am sweaty – is this normal for confinement?

I sweat after each time I eat.

I also sweat profusely when I breastfeed.

I am, needless to say, stinky! Just had my first bath yesterday :P

I am “milk-on-call” every 3 hours and then am stuck in the side-lying position for 1-2 hours. Unlike my barracuda son, Alisa nurses like she’s sipping on a milkshake i.e. suck, suck, let go, can’t find nipple, YELLS, finds nipple again, suck, suck, let go…

I have work to do (and some on the blog$) but can barely muster the energy / time to sit at the laptop.

I also miss the company of the adults – thank God Hubby is still here or I’ll go insane at home. What’s more annoying than ONE old lady? TWO old ladies!

One old lady is “aiyo-ing” all the time and goes around with a perpetual worried look. The other old lady regales me with story-after-story of her previous clients who were so smart, so rich, so funny etc…

To kill the boredom, I flipped through the Toys R Us catalogue looking for holiday gifts since I can celebrate Christmas!!!

Save me, save me, save me…

  1. Yes I perspired a lot too because of the weather and the food as well. I bathed and washed hair on Day 1 so I’m amazed you could tahan so long! All CLs like to tell you stories – I always think they are out to make you feel guilty to treating them well. Just don’t forget that YOU are the pay master hence YOU are in charge!

  2. Paik Ling – Thanks for the reminder :-) Since I was BAD the first confinement, I’m determined to follow all the rules this time for my health & well-being ma…

I’m a person of extremes LOL But I can tell you that bath felt really, really good…

  3. when do you fully heal? time for massage and facial i guess? wahh…nursing can be a joy but something to get tired of at the same time huh? my turn again is nearing…hoping for the best this time.

  4. congrats on the new addition! gd luck with confinement:)

  5. Oh dear… the two old ladies really annoying yeah? Well… just think that another 2 more weeks you will be out of the ordeal. Just shut your ears and you’ll be fine.

  6. urrrggh! confinement…bleah! *shivers*

you are suppose to sweat but yea, it’s disgusting trying to feel comfortable when you’re not suppose to touch water. i cheated! :)

alisa sure sounds like my girls – she’s treats your boobs like a straw too. guess u will soon encounter messy splurts when she lets go during a let-down. i still get these! :(

  7. Hi Kitty Kat, just relax, drink lots of soya bean….baby will get smooth complexion….this grandmother’s tale.
Ask hubby rent or buy the movies, ‘The Gods must be crazy’, 1 & 2…..should help entertain you….and remember….you bringing a new life into the World.
    Best wishes…..and keep well, Lee.

  8. Oh I am late! Congrats on your newborn my dear! My baby girl is about five m/o now and she is still fed on side-lying position. Maybe it’s a girl thing that I found out that baby girl is much more difficult to handle if compared to baby boy. My girl refuses bottle at all! And she is very sensitive to noise and strangers. My boy was an angel comparing to her :D Poor mommy being annoyed by two old ladies, I really feel for you!

  9. Yeah I perspires a lot too – I think it’s got to do with the weather. just had first bath yesterday after 27 days. Alicia feeds every 1.5 hours except at night when it changes to every two hourly. Is it becos I’m producing insufficient milk? I have also up my fengreek intake to nine a day since six a day didn’t give me any significant results. Not sure what to expect in the second month as milk supply doesn’t seem to increase. I haven’t even begun to stockpile since she nurse so frequently. How do people do it?

KittyCat: Hey, I sent you a message. I took the fenugreek capsules for 3 days only (2 a time) and have been able to breastfeed her every 3-4 hours from both sides. I read that if you take it too often, it loses its effectiveness. I’ve been resting more and drinking more liquids (as advised!).

FYI, Lucas fed every 2 hours in the first month and then every 3 hours in the second month. I pump when he doesn’t empty one breast and started the supply from there. I only seriously started pumping (esp for 1 feed and then gradually to 2 feeds) about 14 days before I went back to work. I hope this helps!

  10. The sweat is perfectly normal. And please, the work and $ making can wait until confinement is over.
As for the 2 old ladies, well, just sit down and enjoy their characters. Confinement will be more boring without the 2 of them.
We shall come soon to see you…..

  11. Hahaha…..I had 2 old ladies irritating the shit out of me too not too long ago. Sweating is normal post-partum but you might also want to check your sugar levels. Soon, it will pass. The breastfeeding gets better…….early days yet! Hang in there…..read whilst you’re b’feeding if you can. Otherwise, it’s sooooo boring.

  12. yea, I sweat a lot too. I read that it#s normal, after labour.

I was even worse during the 2nd confinement. hehehe… hopefully, nothing bad is going to hit me, in term of health in the future.

    well, enjoy the confinement food.

  13. can never take a break after being a mother!
its normal that u sweat, just wipe wipe all the time lor.. :)

  14. hey, i thot can’t wash hair only….kenot bath meh?? ooh, i surely can’t tahan that!!
i’ve got myself the dry shampoo & ginger shower gel…coz i know i’ll be sticky & sweaty too!!
btw, even now i’ll take at least 3-4 showers a day during weekend….siow !!
    u really need a break…but how ahh?
    just hang in there :D

  15. don’t worry, sweat is normal and it’s one of the way to reduce water retention after labour…. so you might loose some weight after confinement.
Well, my son sucked on McB every hours when he’s awake during the confinement. You are not the worse, ok? I remember I got to find time to eat then almost whole day in side lying position… really gila but worth it…
hmm… about annoying 2 old ladies you just need to be firm on what you want the best for you baby, I told myself I’m the mother and I’m the one who decide for my kids. Then, everything/thought will be in placed…
Hang on, you are doing great!

  16. I perspired loads and smelled disgusting too during my confinement. I bathed twice a day, washed hair everyday and wiped body each time b4 I b/f baby. How not to bathe and not to wash hair? So smelly and so sticky, all these will contribute to post natal depression if can’t bathe or wash hair. For my 3rd confinement, I did everything and didn’t pantang much. Was in front of the PC most of the time too, haha. Thank God, I’m still ok and not going blind yet lol!

  17. The way you described the two old ladies is sooo funny :-) You good ah, can tahan so many days before taking a bath.

  18. Urggh.. confinement is boring huh?
It’s normal to sweat b’cos you are eating so much heaty stuff!
Btw, for my confinement, I bochap, I just sneaked out to do shopping once my wound healed.

  19. Hi!

I read that it is normal to sweat, it is the body’s way to flush out excess water that has been accumulating due to water retention. Just like what Sharine has said.

    :)
