Now that I am doing some serious shopping for nursing tops and nursing bras, I thought it’d be useful to share my experiences with Mums (new or old).
When I started breastfeeding a few years ago, I was prepared to stay at home when my contract ended but then I was offered a new job contract – I had to go back to work in 3 months’ time!
That’s when I started to search for nursing bras. Triumph was the first and only brand of nursing apparel I could think of since it is also one of my favourite lingerie brands.
Here’s what the basic Triumph nursing bra looks like:

Made of 100% cotton without underwire, this nursing bra is very comfortable and cool to wear.
With 3 rows of hooks, the Triumph nursing bra offers adequate support in the back.
When I tried it on and practised un-hooking and hooking, I found the nursing clip quite easy to use
However, I didn’t find the Triumph nursing bra helpful in my breastfeeding journey at all.
First, I found that the thin straps didn’t support my breasts well enough. If you feel that your breasts are heavy during pregnancy, wait till you start breastfeeding and the milk comes in on the 4th, 5th or 6th day!
Second, as the nursing bra is unpadded, the material is quite thin – a washable / disposable nursing pad is definitely needed for adequate coverage. It’s okay if you intend to wear the nursing bra at home.
In the end, the Triumph nursing bras I bought ended up in storage in my wardrobe until I found them again recently. Another Mum found them useful and bought them off of me – I hope that she finds them useful in her breastfeeding journey.

looks like you are all ready
KittyCat: Pretty OK
I like wearing bras without underwires. I hate underwires! You can also try tube bras. Just push the upper part of the bra down a little and you’re ready to b/f your baby. Most of my bras are now tube bras.
KittyCat: Umm…I need underwires
Tube bras don’t work for me but I think I may have found one that will!
Wonder why most nursing bra in the market is unpadded… sigh… Anyway, personally I like bravado seamless nursing bra. It comes with removable pad. But it’s without underwired. Even so, I think the support is quite good.
KittyCat: I feel the same way as you do. I think it’s because they want to give Mums a) the choice of inserting nursing pads and b) the softest nursing bra possible since the boobs are so sensitive during that stage. I’m waiting for my Bravado seamless actually…
fabulousmom has good variety of padded nursing bra; good quality and value too!
Pumpkin – I checked them out too but unfortunately, none in my size, which is why I looked overseas
