REVIEW: Freshbots Dryz One Size Pocket Diaper

by SuperMom on October 14, 2009

Freshbots Dryz Pocket Diaper is the last pocket diaper I tried because I REALLY don’t like stuffing the cloth diapers OR removing the urine-soaked inserts at washing time.

Anyway, it was nice to be given a chance to review this made-in-Malaysia cloth diaper because it’s a good cloth diaper when it comes to absorbency, containing leaks and cleaning.

FRESHBOTS DRYZ POCKET DIAPER – OUTSIDE
Here’s what the pocket diaper looks like on the outside:

The outer layer (yellow) is made of waterproof PUL fabric. Similar to the Bumgenius 3.0 pocket diaper, Freshbots Dryz has three rows of snaps you can use to adjust the diaper into either S, M or L sizes.

What I like about the Freshbots Dryz pocket diaper is the broad Velcro that I could easily strap on the toddler as he wriggles about, kicks his legs and then scrambles up to run away! That’s how difficult it was to dress up my toddler then…

The inner layer is made from “suedecloth”, which looks like microfleece to me. Pardon me but the only suede I’m familiar with is the suede leather of my mocassins (e.g. my Hush Puppies)!

The “suedecloth” feels kind of rough and I wondered how the fussy toddler would take to it since he’s used to the super-soft microfleece of Bumwear pocket diapers

If you look at the Freshbots Dryz pocket diaper spread out below, you’ll notice that the pocket has TWO openings, one at each end. This helped with the stuffing and un-stuffing of soakers or inserts. I could shake out the urine-soaked soakers without touching them :-)

FRESHBOTS DRYZ POCKET DIAPER – SOAKERS

2 soakers (one large and one small) come with the Freshbots Dryz Pocket Diaper. If I remember correctly, both of them are the tapered while the angular shape on the far right came with the Freshbots All-in-One Fitted Diaper.

I put the pocket diaper on medium setting and tried it on the toddler. He kind of resisted the cloth diaper (probably due to the suedecloth, as I suspected because he was OK with the fitted All-in-One).

After a bit of coaxing, I managed to get it on him. The cloth diaper doesn’t fit as snugly as it should, especially in the back when the soakers become heavy with urine.

Surprisingly, the crotch area fits really well that there NO LEAKS. Also, when he pooed in it, I was pleased to see how easy it was to wash off the poo :-) Looks like the “suedecloth” works!

If the folks at Freshbots could improve the design and cut of the cloth diaper, I believe people would go for this pocket diaper because it works.

Not sure what happened to the Freshbots website but you can buy the Freshbots Dryz pocket diaper (available in a rainbow of colours) from online stores at RM60 each.
