Mosquito bites?

As we’ve been experiencing first hot and then rainy weather, the mosquitoes have been buzzing around! We enjoy the fresh air from the open windows during the day but at night, we’re attacked by the Aedes :P

My boy has been bitten all over, he looks terrible with huge, red welts on his face, arms and legs. Then, he reminded me about the “moh-kee-toh pray” we left behind in Mama’s house. Sigh, I forgot about the Mosi-Guard Natural Insect Repellent Spray I’ve been using for the past 6 years.

Made in Australia, Mosi-Guard is the number one selling natural insect repellent. The active ingredient of Mosi-guard is Citriodiol®, a naturally occurring extract of lemon eucalyptus oil.

I like Mosi-guard because it:

  • provides protection for at least 6 hours;
  • protected me from mosquito bites (when I was pregnant and working in an office surrounded by lots of greenery);
  • protected me from mosquitoes and leeches when I go hiking or travelled to mosquito- or malaria-infested countries!
  • is registered for use in babies and toddlers aged 3 months and over in the UK (it’s really effective in preventing mosquito bites on the boy since he was a baby each time we go back to mother-in-law’s house, which is surrounded by A LOT of trees and plants);
  • is DEET-FREE so it won’t dissolve or damage your sunglasses or expensive synthetic garments like horsewear, swimwear, sportswear, fishing gear or even your golf club grip.
  • comes in an aerosol spray can and a roll-on;

According to the Mosi-guard website:

Mosi-guard has been extensively tested in laboratories of the London school of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and under field conditions in many insect-infested areas including Tanzania, jungle areas of Malaysia, Thailand, Bolivia and many more locations. Mosi-guard is produced from natural and renewable resources.

HOW TO USE MOSI-GUARD?

1. For babies and toddlers: Spray Mosi-Guard on their pyjamas just before bedtime. I only spray ONCE on each arm and leg because the citronella scent can be quite strong…

2. For outdoors: I use the roll-on and apply Mosi-Guard on the exposed areas of my skin e.g. neck, arms and ankles. I have not tried using it on my face since I’d have my sunblock on already. I’m very, very picky over what I smear on my face – I’ve not been bitten by mosquitoes there yet so I don’t see a need to apply Mosi-Guard there

Hubby a.ka. Mr Skeptical (but is the one whose sensitive skin our son inherited) also applies Mosi-Guard all over the exposed areas of his body :-)

Stop the mosquitoes from attacking your babies and kids now. Mosi-Guard is available (for RM28) at most pharmacies, Watson’s and Guardian’s.

Michelle – It’s great, isn’t it?

Siti – Ya, try it. In fact, I’m having a hard time finding a can myself!

My hubby bought a bottle of this too!
But Darrius hates the stinging sensation when I spray on him.

Angeleyes – DON’T spray it on the skin. I can imagine that it stings when you spray it on babies and kids’ skin soft skin. Since my boy has sensitive skin, I spray it on his clothes and it works like a charm :D
