I woke up to pee early in the morning at 6.00 am and was shocked to see some blood (which looks like menstrual blood) in the toilet and also on the tissue. As the bleeding stopped, I went back to bed.
This morning, I told my Mum about it and she said it could be:
a) our rather long day out yesterday in town browsing stuff in Gurney Plaza;
b) driving around to drop off a parcel at my friend’s workplace;
c) the 2 glasses of “teik jia” (sugarcane) water I drank for dinner and
d) the “kiam cai” (salted vege) that came with our Teochew steamed fish – we forgot to ask for the clear steamed fish – the “kiam cai” is supposedly very cooling.
According to “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”, it could be a sign of placenta previa, which I also suspect because I am carrying really, really low.
The Mums discussing here seem similar to my case:
- BabyCenter, SteadyHealth, and The Labor of Love
No more bleeding today and the baby is kicking and moving just as actively as ever. In any case, tomorrow is a public holiday but I’ll going to see the gynae on Tuesday once everyone’s back to work.
I hope it’s nothing – has any Mums every experienced this? Please contact me with your experience. Thanks!

Strange leh… I ate what you ate and there were no bleeding. My mom cooked my fav fried ‘ham-choy-chu-yuk) twice when I was in KL and I ate most of them and no bleeding. I also boiled ‘teik-jia’ a few times and drank quite a lot and also no bleeding.
I shopped (walking non-stop) for at least 2 hours during all my shopping trips and also no bleeding…
However, I experienced slight bleeding in my 35th week before and according to my gynae it could be force labor or something (means the baby wants to comes out sooner) but he gave me a jab to stop it and I was fine after that. Pai seh, I don’t know the terms he used so can’t shed much light on that…
Could it be you are too stressful or have you been moving heavy stuff around???
Angeleyes – Thanks for the quick feedback. Maybe it’s got to do with lifting the 16 kg guy onto the toilet alsolah…My family doesn’t eat ‘ham choy’ as we find it too cooling. Will take it easy now as I’ve been walking at my regular quick speed, which isn’t advisable bleagh.
KittyCat,
sometimes , it can also be due to urinary tract infection, which is common in pregnant ladies. and pregnant ladies sometimes , dont realise they have this infection, because they tend to pee a lot during pregnancy. maybe it is best to get your urine checked as well when you see your doctor tomorrow.
sorry to hear this. i had bleeding too when i was 6 month pregnant. Doc said i walked too much and advised me to rest in bed whenever i can. She couldn’t figure out what happened. Freaked me out
Maybe the baby kicked too hard? I hope there is no more bleeding episode. Take care
Siti – Thanks for this. I’ll note it down when I see the gynae later.
Mommy to Chumsy – I *really* hope that it’s due to walking too much and not placenta previa!!!
i had placenta previa but no bleeding when i was carrying. but i bled at 38 weeks like wee wee and went to the hosp for c section. and ngam ngam it was on the same day i was supposed to go to hosp for selective c section anyway.
check with ur gynae and ask him to scan to see if placenta is low or not. usually by 7 mths can confirm already. but at early stage like u, its not confirm one. usually placenta will move up..
dont worry ya
Wen – Thanks for sharing…Just got back from the gynae. Thankfully, it isn’t placenta previa but could be a slight case of placenta abruptio. I’ve been asked not to be too active!
Sigh…I have to remember that I am PREGNANT so can’t walk or act like G.I. Jane
kitty, i had placenta previa in my first pregnancy. It can be seen thru scan by doctor. i was bleeding all the way in my pregnancy especially after xxx (hehehe…) until we so used to it (horrible mummy). luckily the baby is safe and the placenta went up later in pregnancy.
Glad to know all is good. I have not been good with my diet too this time round. Been eating all the prohibited food and drinks too. Xan you imagine I can have ice cream every night? I really need to cut down.
Chinnee – Wow…I would have freaked out already if that happened to me. You’re really “keng”!
Etceteramommy – Me too. I’ve been eating lots of Malaysian favourites
Glad to hear that you’re okay now. please take it easy yea – yes, i know we tend to think we can do what we do nomally when we’re not pregnant (been there too) but we have to constantly remind ourselves that we’re carrying a little one inside us.
Take it easy and don’t do too much carrying or lifting. So, even the lil fella have to sacrifice a bit for the bb lor. Take care ya.
Glad that it wasn’t placenta praevia. Take it easy for the rest of your pregnancy.
Syn – Thanks, I’ve slowed down a lot, which isn’t exactly my style
but yeah, I’m doing it!
Immomsdaughter – Ya, I’ve stopped a lot already. He has been pretty good so far but public toilets are not which is why I have to lift him…
A Mom’s Diary – Me too
Take it easy…..I stopped carrying Tee when I was pregnant and tried to walk as little as possible and not over exert myself. It really depends how strong you are. I knew I wasn’t after several miscarriages so I took all the necessary precautions. Prayers for your baby to be healthy and strong till we get to see him/her!
Big Pumpkin – Thanks. I’ve eased up on vigorous physical activities so you’ll see me blogging or working on my children’s bookshop more!
Luckily it’s nothing serious… avoid carrying heavy stuff including a toddler and reduce on walking too much… i mean like shopping for whole day. I got bleeding from 3 months pregnant till 7 months for both my pregnancy only first pregnancy confirmed is placenta previa but thank god placenta moved up after 7 months… In my case, I was advised to stayed on bed for one month! That was really bad (& boring) xperience…
