REVIEW: BumGenius Bamboo Fitted Cloth Diaper
*Check out my guide on ‘How to choose cloth diapers‘!
Now that I’m pregnant, it’s fun digging out my stash of cloth diapers again
I can’t wait to find out if it’s a boy or a girl coz then I’ll know if I can buy PINK, LAVENDER or cute bows and floral designs or stick to *yawn* boyish blue, orange or green hahaha
Here is BumGenius Bamboo Fitted cloth diaper, which I got after a positive experience with Freshbots Fitted All-in-One and Swaddlesbees Fitted All-in-Two.
According to the BumGenius website:
The luxury of bamboo and a soaker made of our exclusive microfiber terry work together to make this diaper soft, trim, quick drying and ultra-absorbent.
Bamboo grows quickly and easily, without the need for pesticides or fertilizers. Bamboo is biodegradable and the fiber has an unrivaled silky texture and readily absorbs moisture. Bamboo fiber also has natural antibacterial elements to help fight bacteria growth in your diapers.
I got this cloth diaper gently-used for RM35 from LilDanzell.
The BumGenius Bamboo Fitted cloth diaper is lightweight and fits well since it comes with their trademark tabs.

A trim and well-cut cloth diaper, I like its simple, fuss-free design, which makes it easy to put on also. Just lay it on like a regular nappy, fasten the Velcro straps and we’re done

It’s hard to get a photo of him in cloth diapers then because he’d either wriggle or run away when he saw me with the camera. Here’s my best shot:

Because it’s an all-fabric, non-waterproof diaper, he has no objections wearing the The BumGenius Bamboo Fitted.
It’s good for maybe 1-2 wettings and then he’ll take it off himself. Great cloth diaper for toilet training!
The good thing about this cloth diaper is that it’s fast-drying and the material stays soft even after many washes.
Since I prefer to change cloth diapers frequently (maximum of 4 hours) to air his nappy area, this cloth diaper works for me. I didn’t have the chance to see if solids wash off easily or not because he could already tell me when he wants to poo.

I just got myself (err…actually Hannah) one of these…cos I LOVE LOVE LOVE the softness of fitted. Waiting for it to arrive in the mail now! Hey, Lucas still in dipes?
Giddy Tigress – You’ll like it. Lucas has been off diapers (daytime) since he was 2 years 7 months. Here’s my post ‘No more nappies!’ celebrating it
thanks for sharing this, will tell my classmate about this
Hi Hi.. came across your webpage while I am researching on cloth diapers. I’m expecting my first one this coming July 09. I’ve really no idea whatsoever on cloth diapers. I’ve read up all your reviews, but am still so lost as to which ones to try, especially since newborn babies are prone to pee and poo more often.
Do advise.
Sherry – Hope your classmate will have fun with cloth diapering!
Joky – Congrats on becoming a Mum soon! I’ll be using the traditional square white cloth with nappy liners (washable) during the day for my second baby because I used that for my first. They are cost-effective, 100% cotton and easy to wash. We used MamyPoko at night.
The only modern cloth diaper I’ve found effective with poo so far is the BumGenius 3.0. However, because the part touching baby’s skin is polyester and not cloth, I don’t think I will use it for my newborn.
Do hop around as you may read about other Moms’ experience with cloth diapering for newborns/infants. In some cases, I find it too tedious especially as I’ll have another kid to handle.
In my case, I find cloth diapers great for daytime use and potty training. Good luck with finding your own pattern
Icic… thanks for the info.. I guess then I should only consider getting the modern cloth diapers later?
okok.. BTW I love reading your site. Provides lots and lots of info, very useful for first time mum like me..
Keep it up!!!!!
Joky – I started cloth diapering late because I was a FTWM and my Mum didn’t have any help with the extra washing load.
Now that I’m a SAHM, I will try cloth diapers when baby is 5 months plus because they’ll be chubby then
Thanks for the feedback. It’s great to know that my experiences help other new Mums because that’s why I share them in the first place LOL
Hi, I am a first time mom and thinking of trying CD for my 6mth old baby girl (am using way too many disposables, i think – need to do a bit for the earth!). Your sharing has been really helpful but i have a question regarding wash and drying of the CD: could I machine wash the CD with adult clothes using the normal powder detergent like TOPS; and it is going to take a long time to dry indoor?
Sophia – Good for you for going for cloth
Yeah, I wash all my CDs with the adult clothes.
Check if TOPS contains enzymes because they cause a build-up over the CDs and soakers, reducing their absorption power. The only enzyme-free brands I know are Kao Attack and Woolite. No softener is needed for CDs.
Some CDs dry faster, some CDs dry slower. I dry all in the sun because it’s cleaner (saves energy) and helps clear stains too.
