Home Improvements

When we prepared for the baby’s arrival, we had to convert two lounge lizards’ messy ‘love nest’ into a home for a little family…

This meant clearing out PILES and PILES of journal articles, thesis drafts, note cards, teaching notes, student exercises, student essays and scraps of other ‘useful papers’ :-)

Then, this pregnant woman had to sit in the middle of the room as Hubby handed me one pile after another to sort out into ‘FILE’, ‘KIV’ and ‘JUNK’. When the ‘KIV’ pile started growing, he changed it to ‘file’ and ‘junk’ LOL

Last night, we talked about knocking down the built-in bed, which occupies space in the middle of the master bedroom. We’ll move our marriage bed over and leave a double bed for my Mum and sis. Then, they can either get a single bed or move in their wardrobe…

For the baby and the toddler, we’re thinking of either a convertible crib or a single bed next to our bed. That way, the 4 of us will be happy campers!

I like the idea of a superyard, which has more space than a playard. Wondering if there’s space in the supercrowded hall for the superyard LOL

We also talked about converting the 3-door cupboards into mirrored wardrobes and installing a ceiling-height cupboard there and one outside the apartment.

I was delighted that he even agreed to converting the stainless steel cooking top into a ceramic one and having a built-in OVEN!!!

Talking about children’s rooms, we know that there’ll be conflicts later especially as one of the rooms is a dark, damp one while the toddler’s room has clowns on the wall, bright sunlight and fresh air…

Since Hubby is going to be in town for a short time only, we’ll focus on what he and the other Mr. Machos can do to make space especially as I also need room to store children’s books.

Busy, busy, busy!!!
