Am I pregnant?

by KittyMom on April 8, 2009

Two weeks ago, I started craving for curry and I was actually eating into our new stock of Maggi Mee Curry Flavour instant noodles. I was also ordering a ‘curry chicken rice’ almost EVERYDAY.

I also felt nausea at the smell of chopped onions, which was tough since I cook almost every day.

Then, I started knocking out at 9.30 pm with the boy after our reading sessions and sleeping the whole night through.

I also taking the boy to tea which included spicy kim chi noodles or beef spaghetti at a nearby restaurant. Extravagant teas coz each meal costs RMB38-40 but I was just soooo hungry and couldn’t swallow dry bread or crackers!

With the crazy weather here trying to decide if it’s really Spring (or Summer already) or if it’s still stuck in Winter, we’ve both been battling a cough and a cold. Thus, I wasn’t sure if my giddiness and headache were due to the cold…or something else.

What’s more, I had a few zits popping up, which meant that my period’s around the corner.

Then, the boobs got really sensitive, which are both a sign of the period OR pregnancy.

If not for A Mom’s Diary’s companionship during this rollercoaster ride, I’d have gone bonkers from these mixed signals! Thanks so much for being there :-)

I’d taken a pregnancy test early March, which turned out disappointingly negative. When my period was 5 days late, Hubby thought I should wait till it’s 10 days to be sure.

The wait was terrible because I had to mentally prepare myself for either a negative or the period finally showing up.

Last Sunday, I woke at about 6.30 am, said a silent prayer and quietly padded to the bathroom. Hubby woke up too and pretended to log on to his computer. I’d closed the door to pee but then decided to do the pregnancy test together with him.

When I did the earlier test, I’d waited 15 minutes for the second line to appear and went again to check it an hour later in case the line took a while to appear…

This time, I waited with bated breath as the urine made its way up the indicator and the first line appeared. Then the urine continued its way molecule by molecule through each fibrous pore in the paper and we got a SECOND LINE!!!

Words cannot describe my happiness :-)

Unlike the first time I discovered I was pregnant, Hubby knew I was quite stressed out over getting pregnant this second time.

He *claims* he knew I was pregnant but wanted to wait to be sure and also to have some fun with me. I was like, “Yeah, right!” but touched when he gave me a kiss and a hug and said he was very happy too.

I kept the pregnancy test on the bathroom shelf and later stuck it in my journal to mark that beautiful Sunday. I also gave my darling the boy extra hugs and kisses because he’s gonna have less of my time and attention later…

Until then, it’s nausea, giddiness, headaches and a lack of energy.

Also, I’m calling the baby HER because for now, I *cannot* imagine expecting another bouncing Tigger :P

a-moms-diary April 12, 2009 at 12:22 AM

When my phone beeped with your sms coming in and read the good news in my half-asleep and half-awake state, I didn’t know whether my eyes were playing tricks on me. Then I saw the time was only 6.50am and thought you must been really anxious to have woken up so early! Was truly happy with the news, but I went back to sleep and only replied you when I was coherent enough :-) CONGRATULATIONS again and take care dear, since you are all alone at home with the boy most of the time.
