Another email from AVENT on BPA-free bottles

in Baby bottles, Breastfeeding

I’d forgotten all about another email from AVENT on the issue of the current range and upcoming range of BPA-free bottles. Check out a few questions I posed and the answers I got from AVENT:

Q. When will the BPA free bottle be on the market in Malaysia, Hong Kong and China?
A. The new bottle will be on the market at the beginning of 2009 – first quarter.

Q. Will it cost more than the current bottles?
A. I don’t have specific pricing, but yes, it will cost more. The material used to make the BPA free bottle is more expensive than polycarbonate.

Q. One way to sterilize bottles is to boil them for 3 minutes. My question: Is that still advisable for the current range of bottles?
A. Yes. If any leaching of bisphenol A did occur, it would be disposed of when you throw away the water in which the bottles were boiled.

“We are trying to provide mums with a choice of feeding solution. I’ve attached an image (not attached) which you and your readers may find useful. It shows the interchangeability of the AVENT system and the three materials we use – polycarbonate, polypropylene and polyethersulfone.”

Well, ladies, and there you have the answers to our burning questions on AVENT’s baby bottles. No need to squint at the small print anymore.

Since you’re back in Malaysia, maybe you could buy the MAM bottles I was telling about? You can also get them from online stores located about Malaysia.

Thanks for the informative post. Looks like I have to fork out more money after Q1 2009.

Here’s wishing you and yours a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :D

Paik Ling – Hmm…unless I can buy them with Paypal, I don’t wanna bust my budget with new bottles esp as I have 4 new AVENT bottles :P Wanna wean him off the water bottle. Anyway, I don’t use HOT boiling water in the bottles, which is the issue with BPA.

Yvonne – You’re welcome :-) Happy New Year to you too!

There is an online store can get glass bottle – Puku glass feeding bottle and Farlin glass feeding bottle. It’s cheap too less than RM20.
Glass is safe from BPA.
