REVIEW: Swaddlebees Fitted Cloth Diaper

by Kit on December 8, 2008

*Check out my guide on ‘How to choose cloth diapers‘!

Swaddlebees is the second brand of fitted cloth diaper (after FreshBots) I’ve used. This far, I’ve tried 3 brands of pocket diapers (Bum Genius, Bum Wear, Drybees).

After trying FreshBots , I just loved using fitted diapers! Why? Simply because I didn’t have to remove urine-soaked terrycloth soakers from the ‘pockets’ and stuff them in again after they were washed.

Since my tot was wearing the cloth diapers at home, I figured why not put him in 100% cloth diapers (esp during the hot summer)?

Swaddlebees fitted cloth diapers inner and outer layers are made of plush organic velour with a hidden layer of hemp jersey. Two hemp french terry soakers are included – both are removable with snap-on buttons, which make this an all-in-two cloth diaper :-)

SWADDLEBEES CLOTH DIAPER – FRONT
Here’s what the diaper looks like from the front. Notice that you can adjust the size settings according to your baby or toddler’s build?

SWADDLEBEES CLOTH DIAPER – INSIDE
Here’s what Swaddlebees look like inside. Only the larger soaker is visible. The smaller soaker is lying underneath it. Both can be easily removed for washing and snapped-on for use.

The tapered design at the crotch means that this cloth diaper fits the child like a regular underwear.

SWADDLEBEES CLOTH DIAPER – BACK
Here’s the back of the cloth diaper. The two snap-on buttons you see are for the smaller insert / soaker. Trim design, isn’t it?

TODDLER IN SWADDLEBEES
Here’s what my tot looks like wearing the fitted diaper. Swaddlebees fitted diaper is super soft and comfy to the touch that he doesn’t object when I put it on him. The only problem then was snapping the buttons on before he scampers away!

Because this fitted diaper has 2 snap-in soakers and an absorbent shell, Swaddlebees could hold 2-3 wettings. As I let him wear fitted diapers AFTER he has poo-ed, I can’t tell if it stains…

I’m beginning to *really like* fitted cloth diapers especially during the potty training stage because toddlers need to feel the wetness after they pee. Furthermore, Mummy doesn’t need to pull out any urine-soaked inserts! (claps hands)

After using Swaddlebees a few times, I found that the 2 snap-on soakers are both:

a) good because you can clean them thoroughly since you can take this cloth diaper apart and

b) bad because each time you want to use this cloth diaper, you’ll need to assemble 3 pieces!

In conclusion, the Swaddlebees Fitted Cloth Diaper is a comfortable, trim and effective fitted cloth diaper.

I have not experienced staining on fitted diapers, cos even if he poos, I rinse and wash it off immediately. It helps to use slightly warmer water though.

Giddy Tigress – You’re so hardworking! I think the only diaper I’d trust with poo are BumGenius :-)

Life4Hire – Hahaha that would be entertaining! I hope my son will be like you when he grows up…and not embarrassed that his Mum blogged about him as a baby, a toddler etc

Syn – No choice really as it’s cheaper than disposables! I think it’s because he’s SOOOO active and also all the travel.

The only way to really save cost is to potty train them. I save a lot of diapers now my boy is on underpants during the day.

hmm… you can try and search for more on fitted diapers. Personally I use it for night time with wool as it’s a great combi for heavywetter. But of course must look for super absorbent fitted diaper like Dream Ez fitted. There are many types of fitted diapers around some only good for daytime some good for night. Well, potty train is still the best solution though…

Chinnee – Just remember that they are not waterproof ok!

Yvonne & Sharine – He is in underpants during the day already hehe, which means this is a truly belated post. Thought I’d post it anyway for new Mums out there…
