Blogger vs Wordpress
This is my own personal comparison. Please feel free to add/correct anything I’ve listed!
BLOGGER
+ Direct upload of graphic files
+ Easy font face, size, color changes
+ Allows editing of template for customized look (you can easily upload free Blogger templates available on the Net if you don’t want to fiddle too much with the HTML)
+ Allows Adsense
+ Basic, fuss-free blogging
- Text and graphics can disappear suddenly when you choose ‘Select All’
- Highly unstable sometimes
- No categories
- No pages
- Less security of posts (?) due to free-for-all changes allowed
WORDPRESS
+ Categories!
+ Pages!
+ Highger security of blog, posts etc due to strict control over usage
+ Easier posting of videos i.e. shorter code
+ Nice posting and preview panes on one page
+ Password-protected entries allowed
+ Smileys automatically converted
+ More functions (still to be discovered and mastered by this blogger)
- Limited templates
- Need to post graphics to image host before posting onto blog
- No edits allowed to template – only previews allowed
- No changes allowed to font face, size or color
- Adsense NEVER allowed (I think)
Due to the above and because Mum is a woman, she is allowed to be fickle change her mind. This means, we’re holding on to Blogger for now
She thanks all the nice aunties and uncles out there who updated their blogs though! And the biggest SORRY for the inconvenience

so far i agree with your assessment.
btw, hi! i’m not shy
hmmm…wordpress allow adsense and even have a plugins to help users insert the tags easier.
as for pictures, there’s always flickr.com u can link it via another plugins.
I basically love wordpress because of usability and functions. For eg. Askimet plugins will capture all SPAMS of comments.
Clean up and backup function is a click away and the support for wordpress is amazing. u should give it a try.
when you talk about wordpress… are you talking about wordpess.com or the wordpress which is installed onto a personal server ? But judging from this article, it seems that your comparison is based on wordpress.com.
Bloggers are very user friendly. It is best for new users or “fresh” bloggers. I have a few entries in Blogspot as well but since I found the extras in Wordpress, I migrated my whole blogspot account to Wordpress.
From this I bet you’re wondering why I shifted right? All that blogspot have, wordpress have it too. And yes, it supports AdSense but it comes as a plug-in. But it’s all free. You can modify the templates, play with the layouts, or use the widget plug-in to move your layout around and place them where ever you want it to appear.
Best of all, wordpress comes with an installer so that you can use wordpress blog module in your very own domain name.
if you have your own domain using wordpress, it allows everything. From tons of beautiful plugins and of course adsense.
If you use the free one, sorry. you can’t do anything other than basic blogging.
If you want to use wordpress, somemore want to add adsense and customise, use Blogsome. I had lots of fun using it before I got my own Domain recently. You can add almost anything because they let you edit the template files, unlike Wordpress.com. Only thing they don’t allow is plugins. But they do include a few of them by default.
My 2 sens is, try out Blogsome.
Cheers!
Laksa – Hey, another Sarawakian! Glad you said hi…
Terenceg – I love wordpress too but so not used to its dashboard and functions yet. Maybe later lor.
Serge – Yup, I’m talking about wordpress.com
az1 – Clever ID. Are you sure all those plugins are free? Must do some more investigating!
Ah Pek – Thanks for the suggestion. Will check out your old site and Blogsome. Hoping the Ad$en$e will kaching! kaching! so can buy and support my own domain.
Aiyah..was wondering why your other site has no updates….
Actually you don’t have to put your pics in host website. What you need to do is go to Write Post then you can see the Upload, Browse, Browse All… Click on Upload and you can select the file you wanted and click Upload at the bottom to upload the selected file. Then you will see your file in thumbnail size, mouse up and select Using Original size then send to Editor… Viola! Your pics will appear on the post area and you are free to move the pic freely.
Angeleyes – I think you have just given me the lifeline I needed for Wordpress!
My biggest peeve was the photo uploading…let me try the steps below ok. If all’s easy-peasy, then will migrate again…oops
