Again, we jumped ahead of our ob-gyn’s appointment when I ran a fever yesterday.
- My mum thinks I’ve overdosed on regular chicken instead of kampung chicken,
- friends felt it could be due to the haze and
I believe it’s because of the trouble I’ve had with sleeping lately and so insufficient ZZZs = lowered immunity levels.
We were looking forward to this week’s scan because this is the week when you get to see the baby’s gender and can at least for 95% call the baby a ‘he/she’ instead of ‘it’.
Thankfully, the fever went down after my downing gallons of water and fruit juices. Doc measured the diameter of the baby’s head and crown-to-rump length to check its growth and we had an amazing time looking at the baby from aerial and lateral views.
We could even see the baby’s little fingers wiggling and the tops of its thighs!
We were also shown its face but its eyes, nose and mouth had to be pointed out to these blur sotongs
P/S The photo isn’t the one we got from Doc but the closest one I found from the net. Cute, isn’t it?
Doc tried to glance at its genitals (ok, this isn’t as perverted as it sounds) but it wouldn’t allow us a glimpse (HELLO, a little privacy please!) and so we went home still mystified about ‘IT’.
But we were very tickled about seeing its little hands and also it squirming around the placenta playing hide-and-seek with the doc. It sure was an active baby!
Hubby commented that we’ll have our hands full if it’s just as active when it becomes a toddler…well, that’s my visionary, already leaping into the future!
One little glitch was that all my voratious carbo-loading in the first 3 months gained me a lot of weight and so, I’ve got to switch to the Atkins’ diet now — of course, not literally, but a high-protein, high-fiber diet instead.
MUMMY NOTES: One of the most memorable and exciting moments of pregnancy is coming soon. This is about the time you may feel the baby’s first movements or “quickening.” If this is your first pregnancy, you may not notice quickening right now, but it is very common to become aware of these first fetal movements at any time up to 24 weeks.
BABY NOTES: Your baby is now up to about 120 grams (4 ounces), and should be about 6 inches in length. You may have an ultrasound scheduled soon, this procedure may determine, if you want to know, whether this baby is a boy or a girl. Your baby’s finger nails and toenails are now fully formed. Internally, your baby’s urinary tract and bladder are functioning, emptying about once every hour.

Hi Ms Han,
Thanks for reading my blog =)
We are excited for next month also esp for baby’s movements, the sex and I read that if there are loud noises nearby, baby can actually put its hands to cover its ears…so cute!
